We had a very interesting time at last weekend’s Scamp Skills academy, taught by SCAMP guru Howard Rice. Attendees included owners of Gig Harbor and homebuilt Scamps, plus a few folks contemplating getting or building a Scamp. Topics includes sailing techniques, building tips, capsize and recovery, rigging, equipment and more. The wind was brisk so Saturday the fleet stayed inside port Hudson and ventured outside briefly Sunday. Tacking inside the narrow confines of the marina sure showed Scamps maneuverability.
Enjoy these pictures and video… The Scamp with broad green upper strake is our Gig Harbor fiberglass Scamp showing her stuff.
Dave
I wanted to personally thank you for bringing a Gig Harbor SCAMP to the Skills Weekend. I had a great time sailing the boat and was impressed by the thoughtfully laid out fittings, high level of finish and ease of use. Your boat is all SCAMP. One of your buyers and a participant in the Skills Weekend is out cruising already, a great testimony. I look forward to my next sail aboard one of the Gig Harbor SCAMP’s. Nicely done Dave.
Best,
