Called “the biggest little boat” by 48 North Magazine, the 12′ Scamp is a seaworthy microcruiser with an outsized appetite for adventure. An offset centerboard opens up the cockpit and creates an 8′ 3″ sleeping area, while 172 pounds of water ballast provide exceptional stability. The self-bailing cockpit and a pair of grounding skegs on her flat bottom keep her perfectly upright when beaching or when the tide goes out. She sails on a balanced lug rig — easy to set up and forgiving to sail. Originally designed as a plywood homebuilder’s project by John Welsford, our fiberglass version launched in 2013 and has been refined ever since with years of hands-on experience and owner feedback. Every Scamp leaves our shop complete and sail-ready, with a full range of options to outfit her for overnight anchoring, coastal cruising, or extended adventures.
We’ve built this boat with an Endeavor Blue Strake, vinyl rub rail, dune beige deck and interior, floor hatch for additional dry storage, swiveling mainsheet cleat, and a stainless steel keel rub strip to protect the boat during beach landings. Additional accessories can be added to outfit this Scamp to fit your dreams!
