The Nisqually was born from a tall order: customers wanted a lightweight 8-foot boat that rows well, sails like a champ, motors at 8 knots with a 2 hp outboard, and safely carries three people and a dog, all without looking like a barge. That’s a lot to ask of a very small boat. The Nisqually delivers on every count.

Her lines are drawn from our 12′ Point Defiance, scaled down but never dumbed down. The result is a remarkably versatile little boat that punches well above her 8-foot length.

Two Configurations

Rowboat — A nimble, lightweight rowing dinghy with surprising capacity and stability. The ideal utility tender or grab-and-go shore boat.

Sailboat with Mainsail — Adds a mainsail rig for responsive, fun sailing that takes full advantage of the Nisqually’s Point Defiance heritage.

Goes Anywhere You Do

The Nisqually’s compact size is her superpower. Mount her on a transom swim step, tow her behind a larger boat, strap her to a roof rack for a day trip, or even carry her on the back of an RV. However you get her to the water, she’s ready when you are.

Speed Test: Small Rowboats with 2hp Motor

Recently, a customer wanted to know how fast our smallest boats go with a 2 hp motor. It was a nice sunny day so we decided to take a couple dinghies out for speed testing. We don’t usually think of our boats as motor boats but they work well with a small outboard in maneuverability and speed.
