As long-distance rowing and sailing have grown in popularity, we’ve heard one request more than any other: a truly expedition-worthy boat with sliding rowing seats and serious capability under sail. Our Jersey Skiff and Melonseed are already two standout designs, so we blended the best of both into one remarkably capable small craft.
Starting with the fast, forgiving Jersey Skiff hull, we designed a new interior built around a lug rig, the same setup we use on the Melonseed, prized for its ease of assembly and forgiving sail characteristics. Just as important, the lug rig’s forward mast placement opens up the cockpit, creating a long footwell that accommodates sliding seats with room to spare. Enclosed storage compartments add stability, seaworthiness, and utility, while a self-bailing floor means you can keep your attention on sailing in rough seas or heavy rain — not on bailing.
Row — A pure rowing expedition boat built on the proven Jersey Skiff hull. Fast, stable, and ready for long-distance adventures on open water.
Sail with Lug Rig — Adds the balanced lug rig and daggerboard for those who want full rowing and sailing versatility in a single, expedition-capable craft.
Both versions are built with a single sliding rowing seat as standard. A tandem sliding seat is available as an upgrade for those who want to row double, whether for added power on long crossings or simply to share the experience.
The Salish Voyager is our answer to the call for a “do everything well” human, and sail-powered vessel, a boat that rows with efficiency, sails with confidence, and is built to handle whatever the water throws your way.

“They say the best boat is one you actually use, and the easy trailering, rigging and launching, and especially the versatility of the Voyager, ought to get you on the water regularly. And when it comes time for a real sail-and-oar adventure cruise, you and your crew can load the lockers with gear and rations, check the tidal currents, and shove-off having left the outboard engine and every other unpleasant thing behind.”
